What steals your peace?

Is your to do list as long as your arm?  Your schedule so busy you don't have time to eat?  Is your brain on overload and your body tired from trying to get ahead?

We live in a fast paced, technological world that demands instant results.  We feel obliged to respond immediately as our phones or emails alert us to another new message.  Do you feel slightly agitated most of the time and feel you are drowning in demands?

WHATS THE ANSWER?

We need to stop, get outside, smell the roses, take a moment to "just be".  Even when we try to do that we can be assailed by intrusive thoughts that stop us enjoying a moment of peace.

HOW DO HORSES HELP US TO LEARN TO BE IN THE PRESENT MOMENT?

Horses do not plan or rationalise like we do.  They react emotionally, using their large hearts to respond to what we are experiencing internally.  They reflect back to us our hidden inner life.  Horses have a great capacity to "just be still".  Observe them in a field, often just dozing and lazily swishing a fly away.  Their breathing in sync with each other.  They can teach us so much about being in the present.

HORSES DO NOT JUDGE.

They accept our imperfections, and don't care whether we have it all together or not.  This is what makes them such wonderful partners in Equine assisted learning.  They gently hold the space for us to become still, appreciate the "now" and refresh our weary minds from the demands of modern life.

If any of this resonates with you, come and see for yourself how spending time with horses can help you to become more at peace with yourself and the world around you.

YOUR CHALLENGE, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT.

1.  What is the biggest problem that steals your peace today?

2.  What would being at peace look like to you?

3.  What is one step you could take to live a more peaceful life?

WISE WORDS

"If you are tired of carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest.  Take the yoke I give you, put it on your shoulders and learn from me, I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest (peace).  This yoke is easy to bear and this burden is light.  Matthew 11:28  The Bible.
